I use my personal anxiety experience and knowledge to help you
After graduating from university in 2002, at the age of 21, I experienced a personal crisis that had a significant impact on bmy mental and physical health. I was diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder, PTSD and agoraphobia, developed an eating disorder, and had severe and debilitating panic attacks.
My condition became so serious that I spent three months in hospital. Despite trying different forms of treatment and medication, my symptoms continued to worsen. At my lowest point, I weighed just 38 kg. I was offered disability benefits, but I chose not to accept them. Deep down, I knew I wanted something different for my life.
During my time in hospital, I began reading extensively about psychology, health, and personal development. One of the subjects that particularly inspired me was positive psychology. I had a strong desire to build a meaningful life: to have a family, travel, and experience everything life had to offer. That vision gave me the motivation to keep moving forward, when the outlook seemed uncertain.
Over the following five years, I dedicated myself to learning about my conditions and exploring different approaches to recovery and well-being. With the support of my family and friends, together with my own determination and commitment to change, I gradually began to rebuild my life.
In 2006, I reached a significant turning point. I was able to return to my everyday activities, reconnect with the things I enjoyed, and live my life with a sense of freedom that I had once thought was out of reach. A year later, I became a mother to a wonderful son — one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.
Turning Experience Into Purpose
My personal journey has shaped the way I approach coaching today. I understand from experience how overwhelming anxiety and fear can feel – and I also know that change is possible.
My experience does not mean that everyone’s journey will look the same. Recovery and personal growth are highly individual processes. However, I believe that with the right knowledge, support, practical tools, and commitment, people can make significant and lasting changes in their lives.
Today, I use both my professional knowledge and personal experience to support others on their journey towards greater confidence, well-being, and a more fulfilling life.
Since 2006, I have been sharing my personal experience, knowledge, and practical tools with people, who are looking to create meaningful change in their lives.
Throughout my career as a teacher in both public and private schools, I have worked with young people facing a variety of personal and emotional challenges. I have mentored students at risk and supported parents in developing stronger, healthier relationships with their teenagers.
Alongside my teaching career, I created a blog dedicated to anxiety support, sharing practical advice and strategies for managing anxiety. Over time, the blog developed into the Academic-M Anxiety Support Facebook Group, creating a supportive online community for people facing similar challenges.
In 2020, during the pandemic, I made the decision to leave my teaching position at SESG (Svendborg Business School) and dedicate myself fully to coaching. This allowed me to focus on supporting a wider range of people and to develop my coaching practice further.
Today, I work with teenagers and adults in Denmark and worldwide, helping them develop a healthier relationship with themselves, manage anxiety, and strengthen their mental and physical well-being through guided self-care and personalised coaching.
My approach recognises the important connection between mental and physical well-being. By developing healthier thought patterns, behaviours, routines, and coping strategies, clients create positive changes that extend into many areas of their lives.
For almost two decades, I have supported people in facing their fears, building confidence, and creating greater balance. My approach combines evidence-informed principles with practical coaching techniques and exercises designed to help clients challenge unhelpful patterns, develop new perspectives, and establish healthier habits.
As your coach, I provide consistent, compassionate, and non-judgemental support throughout your personal development journey. Sessions offer a safe and welcoming space to explore your experience and challenges.
Together, we identify the patterns, beliefs, and circumstances that may be contributing to your difficulties and work towards solutions. Through guided reflection, coaching exercises, and personalised strategies, you will develop greater self-awareness and the skills needed to create lasting positive change.
My coaching style is warm, supportive, and personal. I believe meaningful change begins with feeling heard, understood, and empowered to take the next step.
